With this thing, dropping valves or ripping the stem off the valve and then causing issues, it happened again. So the second time the valve said, I’m good yep. So this time it did it a bit worse than the last yeah. The last time we were able just to pull the head and fix it on the spot, but yep that one did a little more damage see this one turned into a blowtorch. So with that fire going in there, it ended up blowtorching through the stem of the valve.
You can see how it’s just all melted and it ended up dropping the valve down into the cylinder which took out a piston and that’s no bueno. So we ended up cooking a piston, it cooked the head, as you can see here, did that get through the gasket too, and that’s why that radiator ballooned, so it didn’t go through the gasket in the events of it, fire slotting everything it actually cooked a hole Through the cylinder head into the coolant jacket and that’s what pressurized the radiator? That’S what ble in the radiator and blew the cap off it and sprayed water everywhere. So originally we thought it had cracked the block, because we’re in that range of power, where that is a possibility. But this time it actually fir slotted that head and that’s what took us out so we’ve been in the middle of getting that all fixed thanks to uh Han’s engine works over here.
Let us know and why it’s like well well, well, perfect timing! Yeah! We need some durax Pistons. Coincidentally, we ended up needing it. I think, maybe in saying that I jinxed myself, because the truck was running fine before I made that comic the K, but anyways huge.
Thank you to them. It’S actually the same pistons and everything that I was running in this before I went to them just because they are an industry leader, great product, and they have really good luck with these Duramaxes with a forged piston, because the factory ones are cast. They don’t take a whole lot of power about a thousand is tops. So when I originally built this motor, we went to these Molly forged pistons, which are a super nice piece. They are valve recess as well for the big Cam that we’re running, and these will take quite a bit more power than a factory piston will so huge upgrade there again.
So it saved the Machine Shop a lot of time not having to go through and wait all of those uh, but yeah just really awesome product looking forward to getting those in there also we’re running all of their gaskets bearings all that stuff as well. So yeah man huge shout out to Molly for coming on board for Wyatt race truck here. I also used to always run the Molly gold pistons when we first put the H22 together for the hatch cuz, they make a nice piston that works with the factory sleeves. If you guys are interested in any Molly products, we got a link in the description. They are tracking any clicks.
So we appreciate the support, if you guys go check them out because they got our boy hooked up with some badass Pistons yep, so we’re all set to go, got everything measured, ready to go in this motor and uh. Hopefully tonight we can get this thing assembled. Oh yeah get those things in there and get this thing: diesel knocking again just yeah back to chucha just better this time, yeah keep the noock like at the appropriate diesel noise level, not where it’s not too much yeah, not where it’s broken. Well, guys. It’S actually been a few days since you guys saw that clip we just filmed yeah.
One of them you can’t see really visibly but the other one Yep, this one’s it might be hard to see on camera, but yeah. If you look at the light just right and you kind of line up this, it’s like okay yeah, I don’t know how well okay yeah. You can kind of see that on camera, look guys how it’s kind of bent right there cuz. I saw them all sitting here and I noticed one of those just didn’t look parallel to the other yeah, this one’s good, oh yeah, you can see right there now, so you can see the wonk in it right here. So it was just enough to where it’s like he didn’t want to risk it.
Oh yeah, there you go, you can see where it’s opened up right up here, yeah, so I went ahead and measured it to be fair. If it was less than about. I don’t know 10 thou, I would have sent it. Unfortunately, this thing is like 30 thou cockey and I’m assuming it’s the one that came from the Piston that smacked a valve. I’M not white positive, but I am guessing it’s that one um.
Friday night, I called my buddy Mark and I was like man. I need a set of rods. We are in a pinch here. He’S like I got you you set overnighted them had them Saturday morning in the rush of things. Neither one of us remembered that they were narrowed for a Journal crank, so they wouldn’t work with my engine so that really shot Us in the foot Saturday night I hit up another buddy of mine had a brand new set on the Shelf.
I was like whatever dude I’ll spend the money. These are not a cheap Rod, they’re like 2,800 bucks, so it’s like whatever bought the rods had them overnighted. They got delayed from UPS for shipping they’re still not here it’s Wednesday night. So I ended up calling another buddy of mine, Bradon ke, and he had these out of another engine and overnighted them and miraculously they showed up this morning got him over to Brian. He got him weight, matched check clearances for me, real, quick and now we’re together.
It still needs the whole engine put together yep, so we’re crushing it tonight going to stay up late. Get this thing assembled trying and get most of the engine put together and then, hopefully, by tomorrow night Thursday, the engine is in the truck more than likely it’ll probably be about Friday before it’s in there, but yeah man last minute around here. Because of these delays, we have one more like that: we’re taking the Corolla dude yeah, can’t any more setbacks at this point for the truck to make it on sick week. I think we’re taking care of, though I did my due diligence, ordered pretty much everything I could foresee need needing. So with any luck, it goes together smoothly and we have a running truck here in a day or two, oh yeah.
Finally, time to start assembling this thing and yeah get it running ridiculous man. Hopefully it goes smooth I’ll, just look away, I’m not going to point out any other things that yeah I’m letting it slide. Next time D yeah, you find something that looks a little bent. We’Re going to have to send it yep it’s riding, oh shoot, starting to look like an engine again yeah we’re getting close man. Freaking got the cylinder heads on it most of the valve trains all done getting ready to put the valve covers on it and then uh flip it over do oil pan oil, pickup, tube bunch of little odds and ends should be ready to go back in the Truck all right, nice heads are all torqued down, got all the valve train on there.
Nice. Well, why’s going to probably stay up late, knowing him yep getting this fully together, so we can try to drop it in tomorrow. Yeah, it’s already midnight, probably another 4:00 a.m.
Night, getting this thing busted out and be ready to go tomorrow, so see how it goes: hell, yeah, she’s, almost there and there she is, and all our Glory yep something like that.
The first one lasted a long time yeah it did pretty good it uh. Definitely that was the same engine you put together back in Colorado, right yeah. I was together for like 5 years, so can’t really complain about that. No and we did a lot of dumb with that motor. So it’s fine!
It worked good. Hopefully, this one has a lot happier: life, no more valve train issues, that’s literally what caused all of this. So a big thing was changing all of the valve train, and hopefully that takes care of a lot of it. So we’ll see with any luck, this one live lives a lot longer, maybe not I don’t know, maybe we’re going to turn it up more and it doesn’t, but it still has a lot of nitrous on board. Hopefully at least the valve train issues fixed.
So it’s late we’re going to get this thing slapped in the truck call it a night, get some sleep cuz last night buddy it was a late one. It about 6:00 in the morning and uh tonight, hopefully be done by midnight, then hit it hard tomorrow morning. Get it running, oh yeah. Well, you had her stuffed in there yep. Let’S do it.
We got the trailer hooked up, just been buttoning up all all the little odds and ends on this thing. Hopefully it fires up and sounds good. Then we’ll get it backed out top it off with fluids, get the rest of it put together. This thing will be ready to go down the street all right. Well, I guess you ready to crank her yep, so it is fresh, durax yeah, it’s primed up.
So really this thing should just pop right off and fingers crossed. It sounds good man, let’s give it a shot. He’S back been down for months sounds good, so good oil everything looks great transmission pressure, looks great, that’s sick man. Now it’s ready for a th000 mile drive and five passes. F TR, hopefully we’re just back to where we were before it blew up.
Honestly, it’s nice. The truck was together running, I’m a little more confident in it than the first year. We did it just from the fact that we’ve been racing it the last two years so yeah we definitely we did a few changes, but pretty much the same. Oh yeah, guys wise race truck is back up and oper operational just got to get the front end, put back on it and we’re just getting the r ofy and the trailers all buttoned up for the final Journey here yep got to do the drill, like you Said hood on it, and then we got to build a couple of lines for our new Nitrous Express setup. Let me show you guys a little bit more about that, while we’re at the race, but we did some really cool stuff there and it’s definitely going to blow up now so cool, but it’s fun man.
So we’ll show you guys a little bit more of that at the track uh, but otherwise we got to get crunching get this thing knocked out, get it in the trailer and hopefully make Tech by tomorrow, yep hell, yeah crash engine ready for some rips ready amilio. This is our ride for the week we’re ready for sick week boys. What do you think alilio? It’S been a while dude, you got the steelies on there. We got a trailer me.
Andio took the r ofy on Rocky Mountain race week. What 4 years ago, putting Mountain Water in the radiator yeah she was running hot breaking the rear, axles right away had to pull all the parts out. Every time we went to the track Jesus yeah, so we made some changes since the last time the Ry was out of Rocky Mountain race week. The drivetrain has been completely upgraded. We got the trailer on there with all of our supplies because yeah as meia just said, we had everything in the van and it was really tedious to pull it out every time.
They we’re going to run some cars today, but the weather did not allow that to happen. Whyatt’S getting some final touches done on the truck right now, because he just got that running as you guys saw and he had to get some final things buttoned up, but tomorrow we got to make our first pass and the Ry hasn’t been down the drag trip In over a year, so we’ll see how that goes, what could go wrong? What could go wrong? We didn’t have any time to really test it other than a couple rips down the road, and it’s still pretty turned down right now, and hopefully it’s dry tomorrow, because uh, it’s pretty wet out here, yeah the weather, not looking so great, they were hoping to get A head start with some cars running today, but tomorrow’s probably going to be a pretty long day waiting for us to make a pass. But yeah we’ve been super busy guys leading up to this moment, but we made it out here and uh got a ton of content for you guys throughout this week, as we take on SI week in the Ry, and why has this truck back up and action?
So that’s going to do it for this video. Thank you guys for watching we’ll see you later.
