What is going on my friends, welcome back to another video. We have got some huge news for you, we’re going to jump right into it. Take a look at what is on the dyno – that’s right, that is the 05, and baby is back! Our New Freedom Racing engine is back in. We have been breaking this bad boy in. We did skip quite a bit as far as getting the engine stuffed back in here, but a little while ago we dropped off our new block that we were searching for to the guys over at Freedom Racing Engines. They did a quick turnaround for us. Again, huge, huge thank you to the guys over at Fleece, Freedom, SNS, Amsoil, all the guys that make the world go around with the 05.
But long story short, baby is back, and we have been breaking this engine in, doing all that. We’ve got our break-in oil changed out already, we’ve got our fresh AMS oil in there, and today we’re going to continue making some power passes. Last Friday we left off making 1933 to the tire.
On our street setup, the N420s are rubber bands that everybody thinks are useless. Put down 1933 on those bad boys. Today, I believe we’re going to start with doing a fresh pass on today’s weather, the way the temperature is. We’re going to do a back-to-back comparison with our radials. So, we are going to swap back to our radials. Contrary to some people’s belief on the internet, the tires did not simultaneously explode at UCC; shrapnel from the engine went into the tires.
A lot of people thought we were going to try to make Shy, which was a couple of weekends ago. Smoky Mountain Truckfest, which is pretty much about a week from when this video is going to go up – we’ll put the dates up – but we’ve got Smoky Mountain Truckfest that we are hoping all goes smoothly, which everything seems to be going well. We will have the 05 on. So, the rest of the season for the 05, in my opinion, and our goals were to hit some of these smaller dyno competitions. And I say smaller, but I really mean like smaller roller, non-Superflow dyno events, is what I’m basically referring to.
So, when I mention that the roller size of this dyno is quite a bit smaller compared to the Superflow or the UCC Dyno, some of the challenges with the smaller roller stuff, especially the condition of the grooves and all that stuff, is putting down big power on the smaller, smaller roller stuff. So, I don’t know if we will see a huge, huge, huge number like we’ve done before in the past on the Superflow, but the challenge and the name of the game is to try to put down a big power number on some of those smaller dynos.
Smoky Mountain Truckfest, Mid Michigan Lakes Dyno Event will be coming up, and then we also have the ODSS season finals in New Alexandria, PA, which is, I believe, at Keystone Raceway. I believe, I’m not sure – we’ll put all that stuff up on the screen because I can’t remember all those dates and all that stuff – but we have four bigger events that we will be at between now and the end of the year. So, if you want to see us, come hang out. Some will have burnouts. Smoky Mountain Truckfest, we are hoping to just let the mop flop on the Bless Dyno with the 05, so make sure you guys come out. That is always around a good time.
Anyway, Michael’s been working on getting all of the nitrous filled up, we’ve got our fuel. Again, on top of all the people that make the world go around, as far as sponsorships go, Michael has just been killing it fixing up all of the stuff that got kind of damaged with the UCC little incident. But we are back together, she is sounding rowdy as always, and today we’re continuing just making a whole bunch of horsepower.
Oh! Spinning. Smells funny, like tires. I can’t decide, does it smell like tires, or what does that smell like here? Here? Smells like David Petrick’s ass to me, but alright. Here we are with the man, the myth, the legend. Square doesn’t go in a circle, Michael, you’re up. Update, update, update. Trying to get as much traction as possible, that way we can lay down the law. We can lay down the law.
So, we’ve got our UCC dyno wheels and tires on there, got them prepped up. First pass on these bad boys, current horsepower is 1984. Not really sure if the tire was slipping or not on the 420s, but we’re going to start testing with these and keep going up from there. How much was it slipping? It was definitely slipping. How much? It was there. OK, hi everyone, I haven’t seen you in a while. Yep, Michael hasn’t seen you in a while, but obviously, huge shout out to Michael for all of his beautiful handy work underneath there. Dawson, great job doing everything you do as well.
You know we’re going to get ready to make another pass here and keep working our way up to 2500ish at least. Pass number…
Four. I feel like I could feel the extra load just from the traction, just the tires. Yeah, people say they take away like 50 to 80 horsepower. Like on a gas car, 1,000 horsepower gas car, you put those on, it loses 50 to 80 horsepower. Technically, my car leaves on more horsepower than you’re making. It leaves on 3,000. Leaves on 2,000. 1,900 to be specific. Oh, this has made 3,000 before. Yeah, do it. Yeah, punch it in there, cowboy. I’m done.
Big Mike said big change. Big Mike said 2300. We didn’t even have the lights on! Come on, come on. That’s why! Yeah, that’s… I put away 2500 with the lights.
H all lights. Woohoo! I’m convinced that running it up higher just, oh, just, like it seems to make more power, like it blows through the run so easily. It makes the lights really fast. Mhm. But if you’re ready for it, I think it’s happier. It doesn’t, like, there’s not this long pause of less power, in my opinion. Like, waiting for it, wait for it, wait for it. It’s like a slingshot. It’s more slingshot. Yeah, it just seems like you’re making much more things with your foot on the floor and then it goes. The way you’re doing it now, it’s like it’s already waiting for you to press on the pedal.
There’s no rubber on the ground. Michael doesn’t even run these. You don’t need them. Oh yeah, we need to watch that. I tried to watch it. Did you already click it off? Oh, OK. He about started yelling. I looked up, I was like, uh, you remember to hit the record button, right? Say, oh we had to get a lot of recording on that one.
Yeah, it looks pretty wild. It’s probably going to be a little less, just so… Should we turn the lights on, or no? The lights are going on. Is your math going to math? We know. If he doesn’t, if he doesn’t, he’s going to blame the lights not being on.
Yeah, boy! Hey man, the lights added power. Yeah, they did! Yeah, they did. 2600 worse. Nothing, boy, that worked. Man, she was definitely working. I mean, she made 320 horsepower more than the last pull. 2555, yeah.
Sorry. Yeah, no, listen, it’s not going back down. It’s going to stay right there. It’s fine. I’ll call. Everything’s fine. Everything’s fine.
Do you think there’s an advantage of, like, torquing it hot under power now, or like just starting it up tomorrow and getting up to the same temperature? Rather torque it now than, like, just warm idle warm-up? Yeah, we can do that right now. We got time. I know, Michael’s like, we got time. You can burn your hands off. I’ll help you pull it. I’ll put it back together tomorrow morning when it’s cold.
Now, I will say this, if we had to vote on keeping a lower horsepower number and ensuring that this engine goes in the Shorty at some point in its life, turn her down to 2200, brother.Yes.
I’m calling straight-up cap on that, bro. Shorty with 2500. I just say it’s not going to be faster than this. Faster? Yeah. Daddy doesn’t go fast, okay. Daddy races his mouth, and… That camera better be on. Oh, it’s on.
Well, it is the next day. Ended yesterday with a solid 2600 horsepower run on the truck. It feels super, super, super good. The truck is running phenomenal. Maybe the best it’s ever run. So, super excited for it. That so-hot retorque the cylinder head. Everything is running good. Checked all of our maintenance stuff that we usually do after breaking our engine in, so the engine is running phenomenal. Everything’s checking out. We look like we
are in great shape for Smoky Mountain Truckfest.
The name of the game at this point is making sure our horsepower can stick to that roller, so we’re going to continue to test and try to make sure all the power that we are making makes it to the dyno. Not really the ground, so to say, but anyway, make sure you guys come out to Smoky Mountain Truckfest. It’s going to be an absolute blast. 05 is back. It is running better than ever.
